 School Profile

Brantner Elementary School hosts students in preschool through fifth grade. Approximately 500 students attend Brantner Elementary. In addition to the regular education teachers, we have full-time cultural arts teachers including an art teacher, music teacher, and physical education teacher. Fifth grade students can join instrumental music, band, or strings if they choose. A full-time librarian offers library services to all of our students on a weekly basis. Grade-level material is available that varies in interest and allows for fiction and nonfiction focuses.
It is the goal of Brantner Elementary to help all students be successful, and there are teachers whose mission and purpose is driven by this goal. Two reading specialists work with kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students. Additionally, five inclusion specialists provide assistance to general education teachers and to students that are identified as needing specific support. Speech and language therapists provide help to students experiencing difficulty in the area of language development. An intervention specialist works with Brantner Elementary staff and students to determine success and needed interventions for classrooms or students as documented in our intervention based services model. Additionally, a school psychologist is available once per week to assess the strengths and weaknesses of individual students and help develop learning plans.
Each day parents and students can seek the service of the full-time secretary who can answer a diversity of questions. The full-time health aide is available for students' medical needs and to help coordinate medical plans between home and school.
The home-school relationship is powerful and the importance of this relationship is evident through our active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO performs many services for our students and teachers including raising money beyond our allocated funds to support our school goals. The fall fundraiser, the walk-a-thon, skating parties, Market Day, and Santa's Secret Shop are just some of the events organized by PTO. Stretching beyond PTO, parents are encouraged to take an active role within Brantner Elementary by volunteering in the school and classrooms.
We believe that all students can be successful and that we must strive to provide families with diverse activities and programs to meet the needs of all students.
